"Pixar" is the world-famous American computer animation studio. In terms of product popularity, Pixar can compete with The Walt Disney Company, but it is unfair to compare companies. The fact is that one studio is a subsidiary of another (perhaps you don’t need to explain who is above whom). Over almost 40 years of existence, Pixar has released 20 feature films, some of which are franchises. You can judge the success of the paintings yourself, based on the fact that we have compiled a list of the best animated films from Pixar, whose box office receipts exceeded the creation costs by several times.
10. Puzzle (2015)
Let's start with an unusual cartoon called "Puzzle", the main character of which is a girl named Riley. In her head (more precisely, in the think tank) are five standard human emotions: Anger, Sorrow, Fear, Joy and Squeamishness. Each emotion has its own personification in the form of a hero. The five forms Riley's behavior, and the harmony of the girl’s existence depends on how the emotions get along with each other. Once the heroes quarrel, as a result of which Riley’s life goes awry. The success of the cartoon is traditionally measured by the rental office - “Puzzle” paid off five times, given the cost of 175 million dollars!
9. Cars (2006)
It has been 12 whole years since the release of "Wheelbarrows", can you believe it? The extremely memorable characters of the cartoon, led by Lightning McQueen, definitely did their job, because the story was continued in the second and third parts of the franchise. It is curious that at Pixar they departed from the tradition of using headlights as the eyes of cars. The organs of vision, it was decided to place on the windshield - well, it turned out non-standard and very effective. The touching plot also leaves only positive impressions about the cartoon. As for the monetary side of the issue, “Cars” brought the creators more than $ 300 million in net profit.
8. The Incredibles (2004)
The following cartoon will tell us about the adventures of a certain Mr. Exceptional. 15 years ago, he was a superhero saving lives. It is interesting that, in response, the Exceptional people from the other side, literally threw the savior with lawsuits. The hero had to retire, having acquired along the way his wife and three children. From time to time, in secret from his wife, the Exclusive takes on the old, and copes extremely successfully. However, the plot is rotated in such a way that all family members will have to show their superpowers in the name of saving the protagonist. The Incredibles paid off at the box office seven times - a great result, Pixar!
7. Finding Nemo (2003)
Another legendary cartoon from an American film studio. Of course, there is no need to remind of the exciting and touching story “Finding Nemo”, because you yourself remember everything perfectly. Not only your pleasant memories after 15 years speak of the success of this picture. For example, on the Rotten Tomatoes website, where movie reviews are collected, the cartoon approval rating is 99 percent (in fact, the best result in the history of the site). And of course, we can’t get past the box office, which in the case of Nemo is simply stunning. With $ 94 million spent on the picture, the total revenue amounted to as much as 940 million!
6. Toy Story (1995)
“What do you even know about legends?” - necessarily flashed in the head of those who are now over 30. Indeed, the "Toy Story" has won the hearts of millions of young viewers around the world. It’s a joke, it’s 1995, and in the States they presented the first computer three-dimensional cartoon, in the voice of which the whole Tom Hanks is engaged! The plot is built on the classic line of confrontation between the main characters (Woody and Buzz Lightyear), who in the end become real friends. “Toy Story” has collected at the box office an amount 12 times the cost, and the American Film Institute has included the cartoon in one of the hundred greatest films in US history. Success, of course.
5. Monster Corporation (2001)
Next on the list is the “Monster Corporation” and the eyes of 90s children with a nostalgic tear. The touching story of the monster Sally and Mike Wazowski was the impetus for the creation of a separate phenomenon. After all, after the release of the picture, the shelves of children's stores were littered with figures of the main characters for a long time. In addition to fame and recognition, the cartoon also received an Oscar (although for the soundtrack, but nonetheless). More than a solid box office was also collected - with the $ 115 million spent on the creation of immodest, the Corporation earned 577 million worldwide. It is possible that the same amount was earned for several years for the merch.
4. Up (2009)
Do not believe it, but the premiere of this "pixar" cartoon in Russia took place a day earlier than in the States themselves. The story tells us about the life of Karl Fredrickson, an old man who really wanted to fulfill his wife’s childhood dream (a trip to Paradise Falls). However, his wife dies shortly before the planned trip. Now Frederickson is simply obliged to be there in memory of his love. The old man grabs his house in balloons and ... a talkative guy named Russell, who at the end of the story, Karl will actually become a grandfather. The film adaptation of the difficult fate of Fredrickson raised $ 735 million at world box office, which is 4.5 times more than expenses.
3. WALL-E (2008)
Yes, time flies inexorably, and now 10 years have passed since the moment when Pixar introduced WALL-I, a robot with an incredibly expressive and sad look. The cartoon of the same name tells the viewer about the adventures of a mechanized garbage collector left on Earth in order to restore order and cleanse the planet of waste. In the course of the story with WALL-I, amazing metamorphoses occur - the robot gradually acquires human qualities and even falls in love with another Eve machine. In the end, they already remain together on Earth, where sprouts make their way through piles of garbage, giving the planet hope for a new life. The picture brought the creators 350 million net profit.
2. Ratatouille (2007)
An amazing story is a rat named Remy, who managed to realize his childhood dream - to become the chef of the famous restaurant. Of course, the path to achieving the cherished goal was complicated and thorny (in fact, the storyline was built on difficulties). The cartoon itself is the owner of an Oscar and several other prestigious film awards. Despite the fact that the animation is computer, the original prototypes of Remy were molded from clay, and the creators carefully studied the behavior of living rats. Moreover, the animators learned how to cook restaurant dishes with a real chef. Thanks to this approach, a wonderful “Ratatouille” turned out, which raised 620 million dollars at the box office.
1. The Secret of Coco (2017)
Well, today's rating is crowned by a fresh little music cartoon called “The Secret of Coco”. A boy named Miguel is eager to become a musician, but this is forbidden in his family (they say that Miguel’s great-great-grandfather exchanged the sweet sounds of the guitar for his family). Inexplicably, fate brings the boy into the world of the dead, where he has a chance to meet the great-great-grandfather in person and dot all the “ands”. This is where the intrigue begins with an unexpected denouement. Despite the crazy budget of the picture under $ 200 million, the cartoon instantly paid off, and even brought 600 million profit from above.
